The Coastal Research and Planning Institute (CORPI) is a recently established non-profit public research institute dedicated to applied marine research, carrying out R&D activities with the aim to foster the implementation of maritime policy and the development of the maritime economy. The main scientific experience and competences within maritime related research and businesses were inherited from the former Coastal Research and Planning Institute operated within Klaipeda University. Personnel of the Institute is composed of experts of maritime biology, geology, environmental engineering and social science. Experts having extensive experience in fields of Environmental Impact, Risk, Human Health Impact assessment provide high quality services for marine and coastal economic developments. The group of experts on integrated coastal zone management and maritime spatial planning has been involved in a number of European projects dealing with MSP. They also were, and are, involved in planning of Lithuanian and Latvian maritime areas. The good balance of scientific and applied research activities carried out at CORPI ensures the efficient transfer of European level scientific knowledge into high quality services requested by national and international business and governmental organizations.

    Nerijus Blažauskas

    Nerijus Blažauskas holds a PhD in natural sciences and geology. He is a senior researcher, manager of international projects and team leader at CORPI. Since 2006, Nerijus has actively been involved in numerous projects related to ICZM, MSP, offshore renewable energy, port development and others, acting both as project coordinator and national coordinator in Lithuania. He is also the author of first Lithuanian Maritime Spatial Plan, adopted June 2015 and involved as an expert in the current development of the Latvian MSP.
    His work within BALTSPACE focuses on the development of indicator based tool for assessing the socio-economic impact of maritime spatial solutions, monitoring the effects of implementation as well as evaluating the cumulative impact of the sea planning decisions.

  • Rosita Milerienė

    Rosita Milerienė

    MSc of marine environment engineering, expert of EIA and SEA studies of different marine and coastal zone related projects. Author of number of EIA studies for offshore and onshore renewable energy projects. Author of Strategic environmental impact assessment of Supplement of the general plan of republic of Lithuania by marine areas (Lithuanian MSP), co-author of first Atlas of Sustainable Development of South-Eastern Baltic based on indicators for ICZM.

  • Sergej Suzdalev

    Sergej Suzdalev

    MSc of public administration, expert in environmental protection policy and management field, this year defending for phD degree at Klaipeda University. Currently involved in national and international projects related to port development and coastal processes co-ordination and management. Involved in number of projects dealing with increasing efficiency of energy resource use, concepts for innovative and energy efficient constructions, intelligent energy saving measures and other.
